![]() Words can be divided into two parts: the first
sound, and all the sounds that follow. For the first sound, knock
on the table. For the remaining sounds, turn your hand over and open
it.
Watch what I do with the word "dog." The first part of "dog" is /d/. The second part is /og/. When I say /d/, I'm going to knock on the table. When I say /og/, I'm going to turn my fist over and open it so that my palm is up, like this. Watch me: /d/ (knock), /og/ (palm up) ![]()

we knock and say /m/. Then we open our hand palm up and say /at/.
If Correct: Great job! We knocked
for /m/ and opened our palms for /at/. You're ready to try another
